Here’s the second of four interviews made as part of the #phonarnation online youth photography course. These interviews were directed and produced by students. They received a little assistance with composition and lighting, but the work is primarily theirs.

Our moniker in the #phonarnation system was #nationIreland and the course was held at Bridgewater House Centre for Asylum Seekers, Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary.

The students were enthusiastic and fast learners. Most had only ever taken snapshots with their mobile phones, but they took to the video/audio and storytelling process with great enthusiasm. I’m justifiably proud of them and hope to return to work with them on more storytelling and photography in the future. Phonarnation was conceived by photographer and educator, Jonathan Worth, whose university level #phonar course is also open, online and well worth a look.

Here’s the video, interview and direction was by Rehan, interviewee is Mohammed, and lighting assistant was Joseph.

and just to show that it wasn’t all serious, and was predominately about having fun whilst learning about photography & storytelling, here’s Mohammed’s outtakes. I particularly like these as you get a sense of Mohammed’s fun and slightly mischievous character.
